Prospero Teaching is partnering with a highly regarded secondary school in Taunton to recruit a passionate and committed Teacher of English for this maternity cover role.

About the Role
  • Teach English across KS3 and KS4, with mixed‑ability groups in Years 7‑9 and set groups in Years 10‑11.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and help shape the department’s 5‑year plan.
  • Support students through engaging lessons, targeted interventions and extra‑curricular activities such as writing competitions, author visits and creative clubs.
  • Promote reading for pleasure and help develop students’ cultural capital.

  • Holds QTS and a relevant degree.
  • Has experience teaching English in a mainstream secondary setting.
  • Is passionate about literacy and committed to improving outcomes for all learners, including disadvantaged and SEN students.
