West Exe School is seeking an English teacher who believes great literature and powerful language belong to every child and who wants to help make that true in every lesson they teach.
You will deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum, maintain high expectations, and bring energy and warmth to the department as part of a supportive school community. The role suits an experienced teacher, an ECT, or someone returning to classroom work.
At West Exe, one conviction shapes everything: every student andevery member of staff deserve something exceptional. That means an exceptionalculture to belong to, exceptional teaching to learn from, and an exceptionalexperience to carry with them long after they leave.
Everything else we do follows from that conviction. We offer acurriculum that is rigorous, academic and rich in knowledge. We expect teachingof genuine quality in every room. And our cultural capital programme opensdoors for all of our students, not just a fortunate few.
English sits at the very heart of that ambition. The booksstudents read, the arguments they learn to make and the words they learn tocommand shape what they can go on to do. We are looking for a teacher ofEnglish who believes great literature and powerful language belong to everychild, and who wants to help make that true in every lesson they teach.
Our values become real in the classroom through one promise:Every Student, Every Time. That covers the student who finds reading hard, thestudent who is quietly getting by and the student who is already flying. Eachis owed the same precise explanation, the same demand for their full attention, and the same belief that they will succeed. That promise holds in every lesson, not just some of them.
This role suits an experienced teacher, an ECT ready to take ontheir first post, or someone returning to the classroom. Although this is afixed-term post, it is a real chance to see how we work and to develop yourpractice in a school that takes teaching seriously. We would love to hear fromyou.
