Job description

At the heart of Hall Green School, a very popular, oversubscribed and academically successful 11-16 converter Academy, is our motto: Learning with Compassion, Ambition, Responsibility and Excellence. These values are lived and breathed by our entire school community and underpin everything we do. We are a highly diverse, inclusive and welcoming school where positive relationships are at the heart of school life. Our wonderful pupils make an outstanding contribution to the school's caring ethos and create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and supported. As recognised by Ofsted in 2025, “Pupils behave well and have positive attitudes to their work” and “Pupils are respectful and friendly.” We are proud to be a warm and nurturing school where pupils are encouraged to thrive academically, develop as individuals and achieve their very best.

We are seeking a colleague who:

  • cares about achieving excellence for all pupils
  • cares about developing pupils’ character
  • is an excellent and innovative practitioner
  • is ambitious to become the best they can be
  • is passionate about Art and the opportunities it can lead to.

Most importantly, we are looking for candidates who share the school’s approach and commitment to the success and wellbeing of its young people.

The school is part of the newly formed West Midlands Academy Trust (WMAT) which opened in January 2025. As one of the three founding members, the school has been integral to forming the Trust’s mission:

  • Relentless focus upon delivering an excellent Quality of Education, resulting in strong progress and attainment for all groups of pupils.
  • Emphasis upon personal development and well-being for staff and pupils.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak and write fluently in English is an essential requirement for this role.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. Which means that when applying for certain jobs and activities certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.

Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/new-guidance-on-the-rehabilitation-of-offenders-act-1974.

I strongly recommend you visit the school to meet us and find out more about the role. Please contact the school, to arrange a convenient time.

West Midlands Academy Trust (WMAT) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all those working at the school to share this commitment.
