Job summary

Barnsley College is seeking a Course Leader to join its Esports team, delivering engaging teaching across Esports programmes and developing learners' knowledge and progression into higher education and employment.

The role involves planning, delivering and assessing learning experiences, contributing to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and building partnerships with employers and external organisations.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Esports or related subject.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
• Level 6 teaching qualification (PGCE) or willingness to work towards.
• At least two years' relevant esports industry experience.
• Experience teaching learners aged 16+ and translating industry knowledge to classroom.

Job description

Due to an internal promotion to Course Leader, a rare opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated Esports team at Barnsley College. This is an exciting time to become part of a growing curriculum area that continues to attract ambitious learners and develop strong industry links. Working within our Sports, Public Services, Travel & Tourism department, you will deliver engaging and innovative teaching across a range of Esports programmes, helping learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for progression into higher education and employment. You will work closely with Course Leaders and colleagues to plan, prepare, deliver and assess high-quality learning experiences that motivate and challenge students to achieve their full potential. You will also contribute to curriculum development, support enrichment activities, and help build strong partnerships with employers and external organisations within the esports sector. This role offers the opportunity to join a small, supportive and focused team with excellent career development prospects. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an industry professional looking to move into education, we can provide the support and professional development needed to help you succeed. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience or expertise in esports, gaming, digital, media, business or related industries who are passionate about developing the next generation of talent.

• Degree or equivalent Level 4-6 qualification in Esports or a related subject area.
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications.
• Level 6 Teaching qualification i.e. PGCE or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
• At least two years' relevant industry experience within esports or a related field.
• Experience of teaching learners aged 16+ or the ability to transfer industry expertise into an educational environment.
• Knowledge and ability to deliver areas such as Esports Events, Coaching, Planning for Sport and Esports, Health, Wellbeing and Fitness, Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis, and Psychology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate, inspire and positively influence students and colleagues.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Strong IT skills and confidence using digital technologies., Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to demonstrate this at the point of appointment. Please note that we are unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this position.
