People Sharks Recruitment is proud to be supporting Progress Schools High Wycombe in hiring a passionate community teacher with strong secondary school experience, excellent behavior management skills, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable young people within an alternative education setting.

This unique role offers the opportunity to work closely with a small caseload of up to 5 secondary‑age students, delivering personalized learning in the community, at home, or in safe local spaces. Your mission is to re‑engage learners, deliver tailored education, and support their transition back into formal schooling.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and mentoring secondary‑age pupils who are disengaged or unable to attend school.
  • Delivering high‑quality, creative lessons in line with curriculum objectives.
  • Providing strong pastoral care, behavior support, and emotional guidance.
  • Using SEN and EHCP knowledge to tailor learning for children with complex needs.
  • Developing schemes of work, lesson plans, and personalized support strategies.
  • Building positive relationships with parents, carers, local agencies, and community partners.
  • Recording progress, completing assessments, and preparing teaching reports.
  • Supporting attendance, safeguarding, well‑being, and inclusion for all students.
  • Ensuring behavior management aligns with school policies and high expectations.
  • Promoting equality, diversity, safeguarding, and British values across your work.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Secondary teaching experience (essential).
  • Teaching qualification QTS / QTLS or willingness to work towards it.
  • Degree (or equivalent) with Level 2 Maths & English.
  • Strong experience with SEN, EHCPs, behavior management, and pastoral support.
  • Creative, adaptable teacher who inspires and motivates students.
  • Confident in working independently in community settings.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, inclusion, and equality.
  • Knowledge of Alternative Provision and Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) is desirable.
  • Full driving license and access to your own vehicle (mileage paid).
