Teacher - Business (Sixth Form)

Location: The Bedford Sixth Form

Salary and Benefits: Salary between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (DOE). 45 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, access to college courses. Note: Salary and annual leave entitlement for Qualified Teacher.

Hours and Contract: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year. Permanent, full-time.

Right to work: This is a UK-based contract. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. No sponsorship.

About the role

We are seeking a Teacher of Business to join the Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Student Engagement – Deliver high-quality lessons that motivate and engage students, support their development, and foster curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring – Provide timely feedback, track student progress, contribute to retention and success targets, and produce progress reports for parents and stakeholders.
  • Curriculum Development & Enrichment – Contribute to curriculum innovation, organise extracurricular activities, and support departmental growth through proactive involvement.
  • College-Wide Participation – Represent the Sixth Form at promotional events, attend meetings across campuses, support ID checks, invigilation, and open days.
  • Statutory Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety, and engage in ongoing professional development in line with TBCG policies.
About you
  • Qualifications & Teaching Experience – Degree in a relevant subject, Certificate in Education, GCSEs in English and Maths, and current experience teaching A Level in Sixth Form or FE settings.
  • Subject Knowledge & Pedagogy – Up-to-date understanding of subject area, syllabus, and teaching methods; skilled in using ILT to enhance learning and delivering consistently high-quality education.
  • Professional Conduct & Communication – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build professional relationships, maintain confidentiality, and promote the Sixth Form positively.
  • Teamwork & Adaptability – Effective team member with a flexible approach, openness to change, and ability to manage workload under pressure while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
