Job description

We are excited to be recruiting a Band 5 nurse to join our east Kent team.

Overview

This post is a development role with a view to progressing to a Band 6 specialist TB nurse. The successful candidate will work closely and be supervised by our experienced Specialist TB nurses in a supportive environment. We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, who enjoys the challenge of working with socially and medically complex patients in a community setting and who is passionate about advocating for our patients.

The role will primarily involve caring for patients in north Kent but may involve some wider travel in Kent for training and meetings. The post holder will work closely with our specialist TB nurses but will also need to be able to work autonomously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Specialist TB Nurses in their role as named case managers of patients with TB.
  • Support TB contact tracing and screening activities.
  • Oversee diagnostic results and the team’s caseloads.
  • Provide evidence‑based care in line with national and local guidelines to support successful treatment of TB and reduce onward transmission.
  • Maintain close links with key stakeholders including UKHSA, NHSE/I, respiratory consultants, microbiologists, pharmacists, screening and immunisation teams and GPs.
  • Provide holistic case management for children, adults and babies, including screening clinics, BCG vaccination and health promotion.
  • Conduct home visits, clinic appointments, outreach work, phone and virtual appointments.
