Job description
Brief info about Vinted

Our mission is to make second‑hand the first choice, and we’re looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre‑loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.

Vinted Group overview

The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:

  • Vinted Marketplace – Europe’s leading platform for second‑hand fashion and a go‑to destination for all kinds of pre‑loved items.
  • Vinted Go – Enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of pick‑up and drop‑off points and a range of carriers.
  • Vinted Pay – The newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to secure, reliable payments for European buyers and sellers.

Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania’s first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we’ve grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.

Position: Taxonomist, Supply Domain (Full‑time)

Vinted’s Supply domain drives the seller experience at Vinted by developing easy listing experiences that produce high‑quality, searchable listings that sell fast. You’ll be working within the Category Experience team, a cross‑functional group of taxonomists, decision scientists, and product managers. Our goal is to enhance Vinted’s listing, browsing, search, and item retrieval.

As a taxonomist, you will build the structural logic for navigation, search relevance, listing quality, and product expansion, ensuring a coherent, seamless, and relevant end‑to‑end category experience. These data models help Vinted’s buyers find unique items and grow Vinted’s global business.

As part of taxonomy projects, you will research, design, implement, and evaluate ontology and taxonomy changes. Your goal will be to promote and balance the needs of sellers and buyers in our C2C marketplace, as well as to support machine‑learning models. You will work closely with internal teams to explore alternative ways of modelling our data.

Responsibilities
  • Design, revise, and maintain buyer and seller‑facing product taxonomies and navigation, across a wide range of product verticals.
  • Design, implement, and maintain ontologies and data structures that support our member‑facing content.
  • Balance Vinted’s member experience with taxonomy and metadata heuristics while maintaining Vinted’s tone and voice.
  • Research and build product attributes to help buyers narrow their search, and sellers describe their items.
  • Work with user research and data analysts to build and test taxonomies and metadata structures for the most impactful results.
  • Document internal standards, workflows, governance processes, and data models.
  • Collaborate and connect with a wide range of internal teams including engineers, product managers, designers, data scientists, legal, policy, communications, localisation, and customer support.
About you
  • Experience in developing taxonomies and/or ontologies to support a variety of systems both for front‑end and back‑end use.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the benefits of taxonomy and structured data to audiences of different knowledge levels and backgrounds.
  • Experience with evaluating and implementing taxonomies to support search systems, content management systems, metadata schemes, digital asset management systems, or product classification.
  • Experience building taxonomies for machine‑learning classification systems.
  • Strong logical thinker who loves finding practical solutions for users.
  • Fluency in taxonomy and ontology design principles, as well as information architecture.
  • Basic SQL and Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Experience with AI‑driven solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, including excellent written and spoken English.
  • Bonus: Fluency in other Vinted market languages such as French, German, Spanish, Dutch or Italian.
  • Bonus: Experience working in e‑Commerce environments.
  • Bonus: Proficiency in ontology or knowledge graph development (e.g. RDF, OWL, and related tools).
Work perks
  • The opportunity to benefit from our share‑options programme.
  • 30 days of paid annual leave.
  • Newest MacBook models.
  • Digital mental and emotional health support and Employee Assistant Program (EAP).
  • Home office support: we provide IT workstation equipment and a personal budget of up to €540 for home workplace furniture.
  • A daily lunch allowance.
  • Frequent team‑building events.
  • A personal monthly budget for shopping on Vinted.
  • A subsidised gym membership with ClassPass or Urban Sports Club.
  • A subsidised pension plan provided by Vinted.
  • Hallesche supplemental health insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance provided.
  • A subsidised Deutschlandticket.
  • The opportunity to spend up to 90 days per year – 21 of which can be spent working outside the EU – on workation.
