Job summary

TC Group in Peterborough is seeking a Tax Senior to take ownership of a varied portfolio of personal tax clients. You will liaise with clients, HMRC and internal teams to deliver accurate, timely work and identify opportunities for further advisory services.

The role offers hybrid working and development within a growing Top 20 firm. Candidates should have 3+ years in tax, ATT/CTA progression, and strong UK personal tax knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a tax position.
• ATT/CTA qualified or working towards CTA.
• Experience preparing UK personal tax returns and related computations.
• Strong knowledge of UK personal tax compliance and disclosures.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues.
• Proficient Excel skills and comfortable with financial schedules.
• Organised, proactive and able to prioritise during peak Self-Assessment periods.
• Commitment to delivering excellent client service.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax self-assessment clients.
• Organise workload to provide efficient, timely service.
• Liaise with clients, HMRC and internal teams to progress work.
• Identify advisory opportunities and technical issues (CGT, residence, trusts, etc.).
• Apply HMRC guidance and internal procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible working available

Holiday: 23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), increasing with service up to an additional 5 days

As a Tax Senior, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and to the highest professional standards. You'll liaise with clients, HMRC and internal teams, applying your technical knowledge to support a range of tax matters while helping to identify opportunities for further advice and planning. What You'll Be Doing

As our Tax Senior, you'll be responsible for:

• Assuming responsibility for a portfolio of personal tax self‑assessment clients and controlling the management and completion of work arising from these clients
• Organising workload to ensure an efficient and timely service is provided to clients
• Liaise with clients, HMRC and internal colleagues to resolve queries and progress work efficientlyIdentify potential advisory opportunities or technical issues, including capital gains tax, residence, trusts, property, pension contributions and loss relief points
• Use HMRC guidance, legislation and internal quality procedures to ensure work is accurate, complete and delivered on time

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a tax position
• ATT/CTA qualified or working towards CTA
• Experience preparing UK personal tax returns and associated tax computations
• Good working knowledge of UK personal tax compliance, including income tax, capital gains tax and common tax return disclosures
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work within deadlines
• Confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues
• Good Microsoft Excel skills and comfortable working with financial information and supporting schedules
• Organised, proactive and able to prioritise work during peak Self-Assessment periods
• A commitment to delivering excellent client service
