You will support partners and managers on advisory projects, help develop junior staff, and contribute to business growth while upholding the firm’s values and client service standards.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Tax Senior to work as part of the Private Client, Trust and Probate Team. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the growth of the team whilst managing a portfolio of trust, estate and personal tax clients. The role will focus on the delivery of trust compliance services, including the preparation and review of Trust and Estate Tax Returns, providing trust tax planning advice, and supporting trustees, executors and beneficiaries with their tax obligations. You will also support Partners and Managers on trust and estate advisory projects, helping clients navigate complex trust taxation matters and delivering a high standard of client service.

Responsibilities

General

• Manage a portfolio of trust and estate clients with varied complexities and focus on the delivery of tax advisory projects, dealing with clients directly, and working independently and under own direction.
• Day to day responsibility for management tasks, resulting in efficient working practices across the department.
• Involvement in the development of assistants for the team.
• Embrace the firm’s vision, mission and values and translate these into day-to-day actions to lead and develop others.

Business development

• Maintain up-to-date understanding of client’s affairs.
• Maintain good working relationships with clients.
• Deal with new client referrals.
• Awareness of the wide range of Larking Gowen services and ability to spot opportunities to potentially sell those services.
• Active involvement in office marketing events, when appropriate, acting as an ‘ambassador’ of the firm.

Task management

• Proven ability to effectively manage a portfolio of clients.
• Ensure the firm carries out its professional duties properly.
• Consistently achieve deadlines and understand the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service.
• Identify and implement opportunities to change processes within the department to drive efficiencies and enhance client experience. Understanding and utilising the benefits of technology.

Training

• Attend training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keep records for compliance purposes.

Other Responsibilities:

• Adheres to the firm’s risk management policies and procedures.
• Undertakes other duties to meet the demands of the business.

Education and qualifications

Preferred:

• Professional qualification (ATT/CTA).

Experience

Essential:

• Significant experience within practice.
• Proven ability to manage a portfolio.
• Experience of coaching or mentoring colleagues.
• Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities.

Desirable:

• Ability to service and advise clients in a pro-active manner.
