Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom is seeking a Tax Senior to lead and review corporate, partnership, and individual returns under UK tax legislation.

You will provide strategic tax planning, manage VAT and PAYE filings, and liaise with clients, HMRC, and advisors. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and keeping abreast of tax rule changes to ensure accurate, timely deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Qualified ATT with strong UK tax expertise.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a reputable accounting or tax firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation including Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing complex tax returns and managing client tax compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in CaseWare, TaxCalc, Xero, or similar.
  • Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in taxation.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients, external advisors, and HMRC to resolve tax queries, respond to notices, and support audits or inquiries.
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members, providing guidance on technical tax issues and best practices.
  • Stay current with changes in tax law, regulations, and accounting standards, and implement updates within client deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of internal tax policies, checklists, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of client presentations and tax summaries for senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.

  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCalc, Xero, or similar).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning in taxation.
