Job summary

TC Group in Rochester is seeking a Tax Semi-Senior to join our growing tax team. The role offers a mixed tax workload across compliance and advisory work for owner-managed businesses and SME clients, with potential part-time hours considered.

You'll manage personal tax and corporate tax returns, liaise with clients and HMRC, and contribute to advisory projects while upholding high service standards. ATT qualification and 5 years in practice are preferred.

• 5 years' tax and/or accounting experience within an accountancy practice
• Strong tax knowledge
• MS Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook); CCH accounting software advantageous
• Strong organisation and communication skills, detail-oriented and able to work to deadlines

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax and owner-managed business clients, ensuring compliance work is completed accurately and on time
• Preparing and reviewing self assessment and corporation tax returns for SME clients
• Managing client deadlines and workload priorities to deliver high-quality service
• Liaising with clients, HMRC and colleagues to progress client matters
• Identifying tax planning opportunities and discussing with senior team members

We're looking for a talented Tax Semi-Senior to join our established tax team in Rochester. We are considering different levels and qualifications and are open to candidates looking for part time hours. A mixed tax role, you will be producing advisory work for a varied portfolio of owner managed businesses and supporting the Directors of the tax team.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Tax Semi-Senior, you'll be responsible for:

• Managing a portfolio of personal tax and owner-managed business clients, ensuring compliance work is completed accurately and on time
• Preparing and reviewing self assessment tax returns and corporation tax returns for SME clients
• Managing client deadlines and workload priorities to ensure an efficient and high‑quality service is delivered
• Liaising with clients, HMRC and colleagues across the firm to resolve queries and progress client matters
• Identifying potential tax planning opportunities and technical issues for discussion with senior members of the team
• Assisting with advisory projects across a range of taxes, including income tax, capital gains tax and corporation tax matters

About you

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

• ATT qualified
• 5 years' tax and/or accounting experience within an accountancy practice
• Good tax knowledge
• Experience with MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook and CCH accountancy software would be advantageous
• Strong organisation skills with a problem‑solving attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Motivated team player
