Job description

Tax & Treasury Recruitment are partnering with a multinational organisation to find an Interim Tax Controls & Reporting Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Sitting within a well-established and collaborative group tax function, this role is critical to supporting complex group tax reporting and ensuring the robust operation of tax-specific SOX controls.

Addressing an excess workload and transitioning key activities in-house from Big 4 advisors, this position requires a hands‑on self‑starter who can take ownership of processes, drive audit readiness, and make an immediate impact.

Your role

  • Serve as the primary UK‑based point of contact for tax SOX, ensuring controls are designed appropriately and operating effectively.

  • Support the Group’s income tax reporting processes, bridging IFRS to US GAAP requirements.

  • Maintain, enhance, and standardise tax documentation, including risk and control matrixes, and regional workpaper templates.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate and streamline tax SOX compliance without compromising audit quality.

  • Transition specific tax reporting and control activities from external advisors into the in‑house team.

  • Provide training and guidance to internal process owners on SOX requirements and control execution.

About you

  • A strong background in corporate tax reporting under US GAAP and/or IFRS (deep understanding of IAS 12/ASC 740 is highly advantageous).

  • Proven, hands‑on experience operating within a SOX/internal controls environment, specifically relating to income tax processes and documentation.

  • A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field (a recognised professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CTA is preferred).

  • A process‑oriented and detail‑driven approach, comfortable managing multiple deadlines during close cycles.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional teams, auditors, and external advisors.

  • Experience supporting PCAOB inspections or discussing requirements constructively using PCAOB standards is desirable.

  • Previous experience within the software/technology industry or exposure to Oracle TRCS is a plus.

You can expect

  • Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience.

  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements (expectation of approximately 2 days per week in either the London office, with flexibility based on workload).

  • The opportunity to take ownership of a niche, highly valued skill set during a pivotal period of process transition and business growth.
