CMG are excited to be working with one of the most prestigious and recognised media brands in the world who are looking to onboard a temporary Tax Manager to join their team in central London.

The Tax (VAT) manager will have a direct reporting line to the UK Financial Controller as part of the overall responsibilities of the UK Controllership team to ensure local statutory and regulatory compliance, as well as liaising with offshore finance and wider stakeholders.

This is a temporary opportunity so candidates must be immediately available or on short notice and happy to commute into central London 4 days a week.

Duties
  • VAT Reporting and Compliance: Delivering VAT reporting, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, and managing month-end processes.
  • Advisory: Providing advice to the business or clients on the VAT implications of transactions and new projects.
  • Risk Management and Liabilities: Minimizing VAT liabilities, identifying risks, and identifying potential tax planning opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Acting as a point of contact for tax authorities, such as HMRC, during routine audits and inquiries.
  • Business Development: Identifying and pursuing opportunities for growth and new business.
  • Oversee Controlling Operations team to help resolve queries and ensure timely management reporting.
  • Liaise with external advisers where necessary.
Who you are
  • Expert in UK VAT (and ideally non-UK VAT).
  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, CTA) with post-qualification experience, with public practice and industry experience.
  • Experience in a large, complex organisation with exposure to UK and non-UK suppliers and customers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex data, often using tools like Excel (including Google Sheets, Docs - but not mandatory).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to non-experts.
  • Methodical and analytical thinking with the ability to constructively challenge the status quo.
  • Experience of transforming finance processes, implementing automation and managing change adoption.
  • Great communication and presentation skills.
  • Industry experience desirable but not essential.
  • Workday accounting software experience beneficial but not essential.
