Job summary

Insite Group in London is seeking an experienced Tax Investigations Case Handler to join its expanding Tax Investigations & Disputes team. You will work on HMRC investigations, COP8 and COP9 cases, and disclosures, developing technical expertise and client handling skills.

This role offers hybrid working arrangements and a clear path to progression, including potential Manager-level opportunities within 12 months for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in Tax Investigations or Tax Disputes.
• Strong HMRC investigation experience is required.
• Knowledge of COP8, COP9 and/or WDF is preferred.
• Excellent communication and case management skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle HMRC investigations and enquiries on a varied caseload.
• Prepare correspondence and responses to HMRC.
• Review client information and documentation to support case strategy.
• Liaise with HMRC and clients to progress investigations.
• Support complex and contentious investigations and settlement negotiations.

The Opportunity

You'll work alongside experienced Tax Investigations professionals across a varied caseload, gaining exposure to complex HMRC investigations and developing your technical expertise. The role will include:

• HMRC investigations and enquiries
• COP8 and COP9
• WDF and voluntary disclosures
• Preparing correspondence and responses to HMRC
• Reviewing client information and documentation
• Supporting investigation strategies and case preparation
• Liaising with HMRC and clients
• Settlement negotiations
• Supporting complex and contentious investigations

Progression

This isn't a role where you'll be sitting at Case Handler level for years. The firm has a clear focus on developing its people, with the opportunity to progress to Manager within 12 months for the right individual. You'll receive exposure to senior professionals, increasing responsibility across complex cases and the opportunity to develop into a key member of the growing team.

What We're Looking For

• Previous Tax Investigations or Tax Disputes experience
• Strong HMRC investigation experience
• Knowledge of COP8, COP9 and/or WDF
• Excellent communication and case management skills
• Confidence dealing with clients and HMRC
