Job summary

Kingsley Napley LLP is seeking an Associate (1–3 PQE) to join its Tax Disputes and Investigations team. You will work closely with the Partner and Head of Tax Disputes & Investigations, helping develop and grow the offering for UHNW and corporate clients on a wide range of contentious tax matters.

You will be encouraged to build your skills in this area and be supported by the wider Dispute Resolution department, with opportunities to grow and contribute to the firm's profile externally.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' PQE (or equivalent) in tax disputes.
• Experience of tax disputes work and ability to grasp the intellectual demands of this specialism.
• Has managed their own caseload while assisting partners on complex matters.
• Excellent knowledge and interest in the tax dispute resolution market.
• Experience of tax tribunals and civil/criminal investigations is welcomed.
• Produces legal advice clearly, in writing and verbally, with minimal amendments.

Responsibilities

• Advise UHNW and corporate clients on a wide range of contentious tax matters.
• Work as part of a team with Partners and Heads to grow the offering.
• Support day-to-day tasks and act as a role model for junior fee-earners.
• Develop and grow the firm's profile externally in tax disputes.

Job description

We’re looking for an Associate (1 – 3 PQE) to join our Tax Disputes and Investigations team. You will work closely with the Partner and Head of Tax Disputes & Investigations, along with other members of the team, to help develop and grow the offering. You will be encouraged to build your skills in this area and be supported by the wider Dispute Resolution department, full of fee-earners at all levels and partners covering different disciplines. You will provide legal services to clients and assist the team in growing its profile externally.

The Role

To work, as part of a team, advising the firm’s UHNW and corporate clients on a wide range of contentious indirect and direct tax matters, including:

• Employment related tax matters (including IR35 and National Minimum Wage)
• CGT and IHT disputes
• Residence and Domicile enquiries
• Tax investigations, including COP8 and COP9
• Image rights and other sports related tax matters

About You

We are looking for a lawyer with:

• 1-3 years' PQE (or equivalent experience)
• Experience of tax disputes work and the ability to grasp the intellectual demands of this specialism
• Has worked on their own case load while assisting partners on more complex matters
• Excellent knowledge and interest of the tax dispute resolution market
• Experience of tax tribunals and civil/criminal investigations is welcomed
• Produces legal advice for clients both verbally and in writing, in a straightforward manner with minimal amendments
• Keeps up to date with their knowledge of the law
• Is able to support more experienced team members with day to day tasks and acts as a role model for paralegals and trainees
