Job summary

bk plus seeks a Tax Associate in Birmingham City Centre to join our growing accounting and business support team. You will prepare personal tax returns for directors, landlords and sole traders, review tax codes and help with end-of-year P11D forms while liaising with HMRC and clients.

The role suits a graduate looking to expand knowledge in accountancy; non-graduates with keen interest will also be considered. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Overall Purpose

At bk plus we are seeking a Tax Associate to join our growing team in Birmingham City Centre. As an accountancy firm on a rapid growth plan through acquisition and are looking for a Tax Associate to help us.

Brief Job Description

• Preparation of personal tax returns for director clients, landlords and sole traders.
• Reviewing and updating tax codes.
• Preparation of end of year P11D forms.
• Administrative duties to assist more senior staff.
• Liaising with HMRC for progress chasing
• The role will ideally suit a graduate who is looking to expand their knowledge in the accountancy field, but we will consider a non-graduate if the individual shows a keen interest.
• Regular communication with clients and HMRC, so excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work well within in a team, is essential.
• There may be the opportunity to study towards professional tax exams such as the ATT/CTA.

Requirements for the role

• Excellent people skills, particularly over the phone
• The ability to do repetitive, process driven tasks quickly and accurately
• Ideally some knowledge of personal tax
• A good working knowledge of; Excel, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
• Knowledge of CCH accounting software (preferred but not required)
