Job summary

Harvey John is seeking a Tax Associate (Trainee) to kickstart a hands-on career in tax within a healthcare-focused business. You’ll gain experience across VAT, Corporation Tax, governance, systems, and international operations, with structured study support and broad exposure to commercial decision-making.

You will help deliver tax compliance, work with data and systems, and take on increasing responsibility as you grow. The role offers hybrid working and strong development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Confident Excel user with experience working with data.
  • Genuine interest in a long-term career in tax.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support VAT returns and Corporation Tax submissions.
  • Prepare audit-ready working papers and reconciliations.
  • Assist with contract and bid reviews to identify tax risks.
  • Support new entity setups and tax registrations.
  • Liaise with external advisers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support ERP and P2P processes to ensure tax accuracy.
  • Assist with governance and controls, including SAO and CCO.
  • Maintain trackers, deadlines, and documentation.
  • Contribute to projects and process improvements.

The Finance and Tax teams play a critical role in supporting safe, sustainable growth and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

What you're be involved in, but not limited to:
  • Supporting VAT returns and Corporation Tax submissions
  • Preparing accurate, audit-ready working papers and reconciliations
