Job description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be exclusively supporting our client, a UK headquartered investment group, to recruit a Tax Assistant. This is a full‑time staff position and will be based from our client’s office in the West End of Aberdeen.

You will be joining an organisation on an exciting growth journey which offers excellent development and progression opportunities. The role would suit a university graduate or someone early in their tax career who is enthusiastic and keen to learn and develop.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, you will provide tax support to the group and its subsidiaries. Your role will include;

  • Preparation of corporation tax filings
  • Assisting in dealing with HMRC queries
  • Assist with the Group reporting by preparing tax calculations and maintaining accurate tax ledgers
  • Prepare tax workings for statutory accounts and respond to audit queries
  • Assist with Group Payment Arrangement and quarterly tax payments
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns
  • Prepare and file the annual P11d & PSA employee tax returns
  • Maintain tax databases and records
  • Assist with ad‑hoc queries
Background and experience

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline or have relevant experience in a similar position. You will have excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills. You will be able to work with software such as Excel and have good analytical skills.
