Job description
Overview

We are seeking a Tax Adviser to join a leading player in the energy sector. This role primarily focuses on direct tax matters within a top UK energy group. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for tax compliance, quarterly tax accounting, and advisory support across the UK group of companies.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with outsourced service providers (where applicable) to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns.
  • Monitor outsourced providers to ensure deadlines are met and submissions are delivered in the required format.
  • Optimise available reliefs and allowances for VAT, EU Sales List, Corporate Tax (CT), and Petroleum Revenue Tax (PRT) in a tax-efficient manner.
  • Provide technical input and support in responding to HMRC queries on corporate tax, PRT, and indirect taxes.
  • Calculate current and deferred taxes and prepare related tax journals.
  • Reconcile tax figures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree qualified.
  • ATT qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a tax-focused role, preferably within the energy industry.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, Word, and OneSource (tax software).
