We are seeking a knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join a professional services business in Liverpool. The role requires expertise in tax processes and the ability to manage and advise on complex tax matters effectively.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of annual income tax computations, including capital allowance calculations.
  • Assist with corporation tax compliance for the service company, ensuring timely quarterly tax and dividend payments.
  • Manage overseas tax aspects for international entities, including double tax relief claims, transfer pricing considerations, and profit repatriation.
  • Maintain detailed income tax provisions for partners, including deferred tax where applicable.
  • Act as tax agent for a portfolio of UK partners - preparing and submitting tax returns, liaising with HMRC, and supporting international partners as needed.
  • Handle partner tax queries, provide mortgage references, and manage composite income tax payments twice yearly.
  • Calculate monthly partner drawings, current accounts, and annual profit distributions - ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Determine partner capital requirements and monitor compliance with HMRC rules.
  • Support HR with partner recruitment by preparing drawings and capital illustrations.
  • Advise new and promoted partners on the financial and tax implications of partnership, including induction sessions.
  • Provide tax and settlement advice for partners retiring or leaving the LLP.
  • Liaise with Payroll and HR on employment tax matters.
  • Prepare tax forecasts to assist with firm-wide cashflow planning and legislative changes (e.g. Basis Period Reform).
  • Advise on ad-hoc tax queries, including partner/employee mobility.
  • Maintain and update the Tax Risk Register to ensure compliance.
  • Obtain Certificates of Residence and relevant documentation for international clients.
  • Keep up to date with tax legislation changes and advise the FD accordingly.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors
Profile

A successful Tax Accountant should have:

  • A professional qualification in accounting or taxation (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
