Serco Aircraft Refuelling Fuel Tanker Vehicle Maintenance Technician

Location: RAF Brize Norton Carterton, Oxfordshire, GB, OX18 3LX

Contract Type: Full Time

Serco proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet. You will contribute to the vital work carried out here and be part of a wider team of 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and rectification of RAF Brize Norton aircraft refuelling vehicles, fuel transfer vehicles, TREPEL Cargo Lifters and associated equipment.
  • Runway Arrestor Gear Daily Checks and Maintenance (Training will be provided).
  • Perform duties in line with Technical Work Procedures, Health & Safety Instructions, and Serco Operating Procedures.
  • Support Continuous Improvement and Zero Harm Open Reporting Safety Culture.
Working Regime
  • Mon–Fri 40 hour week (07:00–16:00 Mon–Thu, 07:00–13:00 Fri).
  • Standby duty from home Mon–Fri with weekend commitment for Runway Arrestor Gear Daily Checks (07:30–08:30 Sat & Sun).
  • Standby weeks typically required every 6 weeks with additional pay.
  • Overtime as required.

  • Salary £36,796.34 + Standby payments.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Three years of experience in Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Equipment arena or equivalent (transferable skills from HGV, Vehicle, Plant Fitter, Aviation maintenance arena are all appropriate).
  • Ability to effectively and safely complete maintenance and rectification tasks.
  • Functional IT skills to use Electronic Technical Manuals and update Maintenance Recording systems.
  • Excellent team player with a can‑do safe approach to work.
  • High standards of oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle / Technical Maintenance arena.
  • Experience with Serco Zero Harm culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
