Job description

Serco Aircraft Refuelling Tanker and Airfield Support Equipment Technician

Serco Aircraft Refuelling Tanker and Airfield Support Equipment Technicians are responsible for:

• Maintenance and rectification of the RAF Brize Norton aircraft refuelling vehicles, fuel transfer vehicles, TREPEL Cargo Lifters and associated equipment.
• Runway Arrestor Gear Daily Checks and Maintenance (Training will be provided).

Working Regime

Mon-Fri 40 hour week 07:00 hrs – 16:00 Mon – Thu; 07:00 hrs – 13:00 Fri. Standby out of hours commitment – from home Mon‑Fri. This standby week includes a weekend commitment to complete Runway Arrestor Gear Daily Checks (07:30 – 08:30 Sat and Sun). Standby weeks (including Sat & Sun Runway Arrestor Gear Daily Checks) are typically required every 6 weeks. This commitment attracts additional pay. Overtime as required. On‑the‑job training will be provided.

The employee shall ensure maintenance, paperwork and services delivered are always complete, correct and “right first time”. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle / Technical Maintenance arena.

• Ensure appropriate cooperation and support to internal, external and independent audit activities.
• Follow the Serco “Zero Harm” Open Reporting Safety Culture.
• Support Continuous Improvement to drive effectiveness, efficiency and improvements in the output and working environment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Three years of experience in Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Equipment Arena or equivalent (transferable skills from HGV, Vehicle, Plant Fitter, Aviation maintenance are all appropriate).
• Ability to effectively and safely complete maintenance and rectification tasks.
• Functional IT skills to use Electronic Technical Manuals and update Maintenance Recording systems.
• Excellent team player with a “can‑do safely” approach to work.
• High standards of oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance.
