Location: Tameside Council / Hybrid Working

Contract: Ongoing agency / locum assignment

Hours: 37 hours per week

Pay Rate: £39.00 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role: Tripod Partners are recruiting for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team in Tameside. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, multi‑agency environment supporting children, young people, and families in need of targeted intervention. You’ll undertake Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court Work, ensuring that children are safeguarded and supported to achieve positive outcomes. You will join a friendly, stable, and supportive service where reflective practice and manageable caseloads allow you to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse caseload of children and families, undertaking statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989.
  • Develop and implement Child in Need and Child Protection Plans, ensuring children’s safety and well‑being.
  • Prepare and present high‑quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, Reviews, and Court proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Undertake Section 47 enquiries, risk assessments, and direct work with children.
Requirements
  • Social Work England registration (SWE).
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post‑qualified experience in statutory children’s social care, ideally within Locality, Child Protection, or Assessment teams.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, thresholds, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report‑writing skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively under pressure.
