Job description

About British Cycling

British Cycling exists to bring the joy of cycling to everyone. We have embarked on an exciting new journey, with a modernised commercial and events offering grounded in social impact and storytelling, harnessing the spotlight and inspiration of our athlete's performance on the world stage, and our growing portfolio of major events. We are working towards our three key priorities outlined in our strategy; to support and grow the sport to make cycling more inclusive and accessible, to lead on the world stage by winning and winning well, and to drive social impact by tackling inequalities through providing opportunities.

About the Talent Team

Our British Cycling Talent Development Team identifies and nurtures cycling talent with the potential to progress towards the Great Britain Cycling Team and, ultimately, success on the Olympic, Paralympic and world stage. We are currently looking to recruit a Talent Inclusion Team Leader to lead and shape how we identify cycling potential beyond our traditional pathways, reach communities currently underrepresented within cycling and remove the barriers that can prevent talented people from accessing and progressing within our sport.

About you

We are keen to hear from individuals who understand inclusive talent development and the barriers that can affect access and progression within sport. You will bring leadership experience from sport, talent or performance pathways, alongside experience of developing initiatives that tackle inequalities and improve inclusion.

You will have strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build partnerships, manage programmes and use data and insight to understand impact and drive improvement. Knowledge of inclusive coaching and coach development will also be important as we look to embed inclusive practice throughout our talent system.

What will you be doing?

Our mission for the Talent Development pathways for 2025-2029 is "To develop the best and most connected cycling talent pathways in the world."

As the Talent Inclusion Team Leader, you will be an integral member of the British Cycling Talent Development Team, leading our work to find talent differently, tackle inequalities and create more inclusive routes into and through our sport.

You will lead our Talent Inclusion team and programmes, identifying and removing systemic, cultural, financial and practical barriers to progression. You will develop targeted Talent ID interventions, including community outreach, cross-sport identification and opportunities for riders already within cycling to transfer between disciplines.

You will work closely with our City Academies, clubs, community organisations, other sports and the wider British Cycling talent pathway, building partnerships that enable us to reach new communities and provide talented riders with clear progression opportunities. You will also strengthen connections between Talent Inclusion, City Academies, the wider Talent Pathway and the Great Britain Cycling Team.

Ultimately, you will help us broaden where and how we find cycling talent, creating a talent system that provides opportunity based on potential and enables talented riders from a wider range of backgrounds to access, develop and progress within our sport.
