Job summary

A leading water supplier in England is seeking a Talend Data Engineer for a 24-month fixed-term contract. You will design and build automated data pipelines, utilizing AWS technologies to optimize workflows. The ideal candidate will have proven Talend experience and strong knowledge of AWS and ETL processes. Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Data Engineering, specifically with Talend Data Integration.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and SQL.
  • Expertise in ETL design and data governance principles.
  • Experience with REST and SOAP APIs for data extraction and integration.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or similar IT service management frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Are you ready to play a key role in shaping the future of data within our organisation? We’re on an exciting mission to build a truly open, data-driven culture where advanced analytics and data science power smarter, faster strategic decisions. To accelerate this vision, we’ re launching an ambitious two-year programme and we’re looking for a Talend Data Engineer to join us on a 24-month fixed-term contract.

As part of our established Data and Architecture Team, you’ll design, build, and maintain resilient, automated data pipelines using Talend Data Integration, ensuring reporting, analytics, and performance management are fuelled by trustworthy high-quality data.

Working with modern AWS technologies such as S3, Glue, Redshift, and Spectrum, you’ll innovate and optimise data workflows that drive real business impact. You’ll partner closely with architects, Qlik developers, and key stakeholders, translating complex requirements into scalable, future-ready data solutions.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and support efficient ETL processes, primarily using Talend.
  • Design scalable data pipelines that deliver structured, high-quality data.
  • Monitor pipeline performance and ensure data integrity, security, and availability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party partners to resolve issues quickly.
  • Engage with business stakeholders from concept to delivery to meet their data needs.
  • Contribute to data policies, standards, and continuous process improvements.
  • Work within an Agile (Scrum) delivery environment, applying best practices in continuous integration and delivery.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in Data Engineering, specifically with Talend Data Integration.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services (S3, Glue, Redshift, Spectrum) and SQL.
  • Expertise in ETL design, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
  • Experience with REST and SOAP APIs for data extraction and integration.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or similar IT service management frameworks.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and delivering data-driven projects.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of Master Data Management, predictive analytics, or water industry regulatory reporting.

  • Salary £60,000 upwards, dependant on experience
  • Hybrid role, with the expectations of a minimum two days a week in the office in Hatfield
  • Annual leave from 26 days rising with length of service, and the option to purchase up to 5 extra days.
