Job summary

IC Resources is seeking a Systems Software Engineer for an AI hardware startup building a novel accelerator platform. You will help develop the runtime, SDK and APIs to integrate this hardware into real AI workloads and optimize performance across software and hardware boundaries.

The role involves working at the interface of hardware and software, collaborating with FPGA teams to deliver developer-friendly tooling and co-design across the platform.

Qualifications

• Proficient in C/C++ development on Linux.
• Background in systems software, accelerators, or custom silicon.
• Experience with hardware interfaces such as PCIe, DMA, and memory-mapped I/O.
• Collaborate with FPGA/hardware teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Strong focus on performance benchmarking and profiling.
• Python experience for SDKs, tooling, or automation.
• Experience developing runtime software or APIs for new hardware platforms (preferred).

Join an innovative AI hardware start-up | UK Remote

This exciting start-up is developing a fundamentally new approach to AI infrastructure, building hardware capable of accessing and traversing large-scale knowledge structures at machine speed. The team are now looking for a Systems Software Engineer to build the software foundation that enables developers to integrate this novel hardware into real AI workloads.

You’ll work across the boundary between hardware and software, owning the runtime, SDK and APIs that interface with FPGA/ASIC hardware while focusing heavily on performance, developer experience and hardware/software co-design.

For this Systems Software Engineer role, we are looking for someone with:

• Strong experience developing C/C++ software on Linux


• Background in systems software, accelerator runtimes, FPGA, DPU, SmartNIC or custom silicon


• Experience with PCIe, DMA, memory-mapped I/O or similar hardware interfaces


• Experience working closely with FPGA or hardware engineering teams


• Strong understanding of performance optimisation, benchmarking and profiling


• Python experience for SDK development, tooling or automation


• Ideally, experience developing runtime software, SDKs or APIs for novel hardware platforms
