Job description

We’re looking for a Systems Release Train Lead (Grade 12) to join the Technology function at Elexon on a permanent basis.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead the end-to-end coordination of release trains, ensuring alignment across multiple teams, suppliers, and delivery streams
  • Plan and manage release schedules, dependencies, and delivery timelines across complex programmes
  • Ensure effective release governance, controls, and quality assurance are applied across all deployments
  • Coordinate with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and technical teams to align priorities and delivery plans
  • Manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and issues, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where required
  • Support Agile delivery practices, including planning cycles and release readiness activities
  • Oversee release readiness, deployment activities, and post-release reviews, ensuring successful outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement in release management processes and tooling
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of system changes
  • Provide clear reporting and communication to senior stakeholders on release progress, risks, and performance
What you’ll bring:
  • Experience in release management, programme delivery, or Agile delivery leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g. SAFe) Agilist/practitioner and Coaching skills and release train concepts
  • Release Train Lead (ART Agile Release Train-focused).. note: not related to own or manage technical releases.
  • Scaling ARTs in organisations. Experience in multiple ARTs set-ups
  • Experience coordinating complex, multi-team or multi-supplier technology deliveries
  • Strong knowledge of release governance, dependency management, and delivery assurance
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including senior-level engagement
  • Ability to provide a strategic vision, influence its acceptance (i.e. snr stakeholder buy-in) and lead its subsequent implementation.
  • Experience engaging with Snr Leadership Team (SLT) / Exec level sponsors.
  • Demonstrate being able to effortlessly pivot between the macro and lower level detail (as required)
  • Ability to manage risks, issues, and competing priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working in large-scale transformation programmes or system implementations
  • Experience within regulated environments, energy, or utilities sectors (desirable)
