Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking a full-time Systems Principal Architect in Merthyr Tydfil to lead system architecture from analysis through design, validation and certification. The role requires a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Electronics, Systems Engineering, Physics or similar, and strong SysML/UML skills.

The successful candidate will work in the System Architecture Team, coordinating interfaces, subsystem specs, and design evidence while engaging with customers and suppliers

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electronics, Systems Engineering, Physics or similar.
  • Typically requires degree level education and an advanced level of related experience, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of SysML and/or UML for System Analysis and Design
  • Understanding of UK Defence Standards and Security Accreditation

Responsibilities

  • Develop System Architectural Description for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Develop Interface Requirements and Design Documentation.
  • Develop Subsystem Specifications, Subsystem Design Descriptions and ICDs.
  • Verify and validate design against requirements.
  • Support customer and supplier meetings as required.

Job description

General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Systems Principal Architect to join our Engineering Team, based in Merthyr Tydfil. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £59,000 to £74,000 based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.

Joining an established team, the successful candidate will work within the System Architecture Team and will be responsible for areas of the system architecture from top level analysis through design, validation and certification.

  • Development of System Architectural Description for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Development of Interface Requirements and Design Documentation
  • Development of Subsystem Specifications,Subsystem Design Descriptionsand ICDs
  • Development of Equipment Specifications and IDDs
  • Verification andValidation of design against requirements
  • Achieving customer acceptance of requirements
  • Preparing Design Certification Evidenceand Certificate of Design
