Job summary

MDA Space UK is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, integrate and test sensor and communication payloads for LEO, GEO and Lunar satellites. You will serve as a technical interface to customers and subcontractors, deriving requirements and developing system architectures.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in complex space systems, with optics/sensors experience and ECSS knowledge. Occasional travel to partner sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in design, manufacture and test of complex technological systems.
• Experience with Space environments and ECSS standards.
• Hands-on experience of Manufacturing, Assembly and Test.

Responsibilities

We’re on the hunt for a Systems Engineer.

Role:

MDA-UK is looking for a Systems Engineer to work on the design, integration and test of sensor and communication payload products for LEO, GEO, and Lunar satellite systems.

Responsibilities:

• Providing a technical interface to customers and subcontractors
• Capturing, deriving, and managing engineering requirements
• Developing system architecture and concept of operations
• Producing system budgets (power, mass, link, etc.) and interface definition
• Analyzingperformance & justifying design choices
• Assessing reliability, availability, and maintainability (including FDIR and FMECA)
• Planning test campaigns
• Providing oversight and supervision to different engineering disciplines during design, integration and test
• Troubleshooting hardware and software
• Analyzingtest data and writing test reports
• Delivering verified flight equipment compliant to customer requirements

Suitable candidates will ideally have the following attributes:

• 5+ years experience in design, manufacture and test of complex technological systems
• Experience working with and developing systems designed for Space environments
• Familiarity with formal configuration control methods
• Experience with test specification, planning, and procedure development for qualification and acceptance
• Experience with optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies
• Experience with Zemax OpticStudio or similar optic design software
• Knowledge of wireless communications systems from the physical layer processing in the digital domain down to RF and antenna(s)
• Familiarity with ECSS standards
• Hands on experience of Manufacturing, Assembly and Test
