Job summary

QinetiQ in Lincoln is seeking a detail‑oriented software and systems engineer to support mission systems. You will contribute to requirements derivation, verification, and system test development within a Scrum team.

The role requires a methodical approach, strong Office skills, experience with DOORS/Azure DevOps, and eligibility for UK National Security Vetting; residency of at least five years and UK nationality may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development with a multi-disciplinary Scrum team.
  • Ensure systems engineering aspects of development, including requirements derivation and test authoring.
  • Derive software and system requirements.
  • Develop software and system test procedures for derived requirements.
  • Assist in design and implementation of product features.
  • Maintain solid Systems Engineering practices within sprints.
  • Support overall development of products and systems.
  • Review peers' work to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Drive process and procedure improvements.
  • Undertake related project activities and support Mission Systems goals.

Job description

Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements:
  • A methodical approach to work.
  • Expert user of modern office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
  • An understanding of Requirements, Architecture and Verification concepts for Software and Systems.
  • Experience using Requirements, Verification, and Configuration Management tools (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Proven experience developing traceable requirements and design.
  • Proven experience developing tests to satisfy stated requirements.
  • An understanding of the principles of configuration control.
  • Due to the nature of elements of the role, we require the successful applicant to be a UK National.
  • The successful applicant may be required to complete National Security Vetting, which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks.
  • Qualification will normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
