Job description

Overview

Expleo is a trusted partner for engineering, quality services, and digital transformation. We collaborate with world-leading aerospace manufacturers, delivering cutting‑edge solutions in structural analysis, finite element modelling, numerical simulation, and certification support. At Expleo, we foster innovation, technical excellence, and professional growth, empowering our teams to shape the future of aerospace engineering.

We are now seeking Systems Engineers to support the development of integrated Electronic Warfare (EW) and Survivability capabilities for the next generation of fast jets in support of a key client leading the integration of advanced EW capabilities. This role offers an opportunity to influence future combat air capability through the development, integration and optimisation of advanced sensing architectures, supporting delivery across the full engineering lifecycle.

Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will contribute to the delivery of next‑generation survivability solutions that enable combat aircraft to operate effectively within increasingly complex threat environments. You will support the development and integration of electronic warfare, self‑protection and survivability capabilities that enhance mission success and operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Electronic Warfare and Survivability system requirements.

  • Contribute to system architecture, capability decomposition and interface management activities.

  • Support the integration of survivability capabilities within wider combat air architectures.

  • Perform technical analysis, modelling and trade studies.

  • Define verification and validation approaches for EW and survivability capabilities.

  • Support laboratory, simulation and platform integration activities.

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and engineering artefacts.

  • Participate in design reviews and stakeholder engagements.

  • Support programme technical governance and risk management activities.

  • Work collaboratively with mission systems, sensing, software and platform engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related STEM discipline.

  • Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don’t hold formal qualifications.

  • Professional registration or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Essential skills

  • Threat modelling and operational analysis.

  • Platform integration and test activities.

Desired skills

  • Someone for whom collaboration and working in partnership comes naturally. A confident communicator with the ability to negotiate.

  • You will also be self‑motivated with an energetic attitude, being able to transform complex problems into simple, elegant solution

  • Capable of working across a portfolio of projects and business initiatives often at short notice. Someone who is an instinctive organiser with meticulous attention to detail, and who can motivate others to complete their actions so that the overall objectives are achieved.

  • Someone who understands ‘how’ you do things is just as important as ‘what’ you do – who will role model and apply our Principles.

  • A person who is resilient and adaptable, who can navigate ambiguity and complexity and help teams own and deliver day to day.

Experience

  • Experience supporting complex integrated system developments.

  • Electronic Warfare, DASS or survivability programme experience.

  • Combat air or military aviation experience.

  • Mission systems integration experience.

What do I need before I apply

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC).

  • Ability to satisfy customer security and export control requirements.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer and partner locations.

Benefits

  • Collaborative working environment – we stand shoulder to shoulder with our clients and ourpeers through good times and challenges
