About the Role

We’re looking for a junior to mid-level team member to join our supportive Data team. You’ll contribute to a variety of tasks including database administration, cloud platform support, systems implementation, data analysis, performance optimisation, backup and recovery, and Infrastructure as Code.

This role is hybrid, with some office attendance required. After training, you’ll participate in a paid on-call rota to support our 24/7 systems.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers to investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Analyse and document requirements for new and existing systems.
  • Support and improve system architecture and design.
  • Explore and test new technologies that meet business needs.
  • Work closely with technical teams and stakeholders across the business.
  • Deliver high-quality work independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS).
  • Understanding of database systems (e.g. MySQL, Aurora), including monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Interest in non-relational data platforms (e.g. S3, flat files).
  • Basic knowledge of Linux systems and programming experience (ideally Python).
  • Exposure to container technologies (e.g. Docker).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform) and version control (e.g. Git).
  • A proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving and awareness of security principles and their application in platform design.
