Job description

Systems Engineer (Aerospace)
Company:

Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited

The Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) department supports programmes across the Fixed Wing, Vertical Lift and Digital business areas. We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and delivery of innovative services and solutions for our customers.

In this role, you will apply systems engineering principles to translate customer needs and requirements into effective solutions, working as part of multidisciplinary teams to support business development activities, develop proposals, and deliver verified engineering outcomes.

You will operate within a collaborative and dynamic engineering environment that values openness, innovation, safety, first-time quality and technical excellence. We are committed to supporting employee wellbeing and fostering a positive team culture that enables individuals and teams to perform at their best.

As part of your career development with Boeing, you will have opportunities to apply and expand your skills across a broad range of programmes and business opportunities. By bringing your experience and expertise to the team, you will help strengthen engineering capability, support continuous improvement, and contribute to the successful delivery of customer-focused solutions.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Contributing to the development and refinement of requirement specifications in collaboration with cross‑functional teams, taking ownership of allocated elements while working under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assisting in developing systems solutions using approaches such as Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Trade Studies, with responsibility for defined work packages.
  • Supporting the creation of plans and associated artefacts for Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA) activities, taking ownership of preparing specific inputs or documentation.
  • Helping to manage technical baselines (e.g., requirements, performance measures, solution definitions), including maintaining configuration and change control, while coordinating with stakeholders across the wider organisation.
  • Developing and maintaining systems engineering artefacts (e.g., management plans, schedules, reports) with increasing autonomy for assigned tasks.
  • Contributing to technical management and governance activities (metrics, reporting, team tasking, risk/issue/opportunity management), ensuring accurate data and timely updates.
  • Collaborating with and preparing structured inputs for Customer representatives and global partners, supporting senior team members in customer engagement activities.
  • Applying and tailoring engineering initiatives, best practices, and quality processes, and proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement within assigned scope.

Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain SC level clearance.
  • Applied experience across some or all elements of Systems Engineering, including requirements management, interface management, systems architecture, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), integration of specialist disciplines, and Verification & Validation (V&V).
  • Exposure to MBSE methods and modelling tools (such as Dassault Systèmes Magic Systems of Systems Architect, Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, or similar), with the ability to apply structured modelling approaches to support requirements development, system architecture definition, verification planning, and the creation and maintenance of functional, logical and physical system models.
  • Willingness and capability to further develop MBSE knowledge and modelling skills, working in accordance with established modelling standards, processes and best practices.
  • Exposure to Command, Control, Communications and Information (C3I) systems, governance and change management activities.
  • Experience using IBM DOORS, or similar requirements management tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the resilience to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively in writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard business IT applications
