Job description

Location: Shrewsbury Area (with occasional travel across the UK and Europe)
Hours: Monday Thursday 08 15, Friday 08 30 (37.5 hours per week)

We are looking for a talented Systems Engineer to join our advanced engineering team at our new facility in the Shrewsbury area. This is a hands‑on role focused on supporting and improving complex electro‑mechanical instrumentation used by global brands in highly regulated industries. You'll work on precision systems that measure material properties and gas permeability, ensuring reliability and innovation in every product.

This position offers a great mix of technical problem-solving, design improvements, and customer interaction. You'll collaborate with production teams, provide technical expertise, and contribute to new product development projects that shape the future of our technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, integrate, and optimise electro‑mechanical systems for high‑value instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and electronic issues down to component level.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, test reports, and engineering change notes.
  • Support new product development and contribute to R&D initiatives.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to improve build quality and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to service teams and customers, including training and problem resolution.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and feed insights into product roadmaps.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
What We re Looking For:
  • Strong background in electro‑mechanical engineering with practical bench‑level experience.
  • Skilled in fault‑finding across electronics and mechanical systems (PCB, wiring, sensors, motors, heaters).
  • Ability to interpret schematics and diagnose issues using software tools.
  • Experience in instrumentation or precision equipment (materials testing, gas analysis, or similar sectors desirable).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills for customer and internal collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training or customer support.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree or equivalent in Electro‑Mechanical Engineering (or relevant experience).
  • Familiarity with embedded electronics and industrial design principles.
  • Hands‑on approach with good practical skills and adaptability.
