Job summary

ZEISS Group in Cambridge is seeking a Systems Engineer / System Integration Engineer to drive the integration and validation of next-generation electron microscopy systems. You will coordinate software, electronics, vacuum technology and mechanical teams to ensure project success and robust instrument performance.

The role requires a degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Mechatronics, plus proven experience in complex product integration and strong communication

Qualifications

• Experience in a Systems Engineering, System Integration or Technical Lead role involving complex products or equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechatronic systems, ideally including vacuum technology products, scientific instrumentation or high-tech equipment.
• Experience working with the integration of software, electronics and mechanical systems within a complete product.
• Degree qualified in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to take ownership of challenging technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the system integration and validation of advanced electron microscopy systems.
• Coordinating activities across software, electronics, mechanical and systems engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Developing and managing system requirements, interface specifications, test plans and validation activities.
• Supporting the build of prototype instruments, resolving integration challenges and ensuring system reliability.
• Driving the technical implementation of complex projects whilst working closely with subject matter experts across multiple disciplines.
