A healthcare trust in London seeks a Family Therapist to provide care coordination and therapy for young people as part of a multidisciplinary team. Job description

The post holder will provide care coordination and family/systemic therapy to young people within Newham CAMHS. They will contribute to the effective functioning of the MDT and provide both clinical and management supervision.

You will join the Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT), a community-based, multidisciplinary team that operates using the Care Programme Approach. The AMHT includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, and family therapy, and is a highly effective and supportive team within a thriving CAMHS service.

This role will involve supporting Early Intervention in Psychosis for 13 to 18-year-olds, as well as assessing and treating young people with severe emotional and mental health difficulties, including those presenting with high-risk behaviour. You will hold a caseload and collaborate with other team members, as well as work independently. As a family therapist, you will offer family, parent, and individual therapeutic interventions, while also supporting the MDT in formulating young people's presentations within a systemic context.

Main duties of the job

In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision of Band 7 family therapists and may provide line management. You will also participate in the AMHT duty rota, supporting young people held within the team. The role will involve supporting the Operational Lead and Senior Nurse in managing the team and developing interfaces with partner services, both community-based and inpatient. Opportunities to contribute to the CAMHS Family Therapy clinic will be available. The post holder will also be encouraged to participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives within CAMHS.

Education, Training and Qualifications
  • Registration with the BACP Masters level qualification in family therapy recognised by the AFT and DOH.

  • Previous experience of working in CAMHS
  • Experience of working specifically with adolescent mental health
  • Experience of working in a Multi-disciplinary team.

  • Specific knowledge of pertinent issues for Adolescent mental health.
  • Knowledge of the principals of the Care programme Approach (CPA).
  • A working knowledge of Child Protection guidelines and the principles of safeguarding.
