We're hiring: Systems Safety Engineer – ETCS Onboard Projects

Are you passionate about engineering safety in the rail industry? We're looking for a Systems Safety Engineer to lead safety assurance activities for cutting-edge ETCS onboard systems.

This role involves applying rigorous safety engineering techniques aligned with CSM-RA and CENELEC standards. From hazard identification to safety case development, you'll be at the heart of ensuring safe and compliant rail systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead safety activities as per the systems safety plan.
  • Facilitate hazard identification workshops and manage hazard records.
  • Conduct hazard analysis and assess safety risks.
  • Define and verify safety requirements using a structured, auditable approach.
  • Oversee safety governance across design, implementation, and approval stages.
  • Collaborate with operators, assessors, certification bodies, and stakeholders.
  • Produce safety documentation including Hazard Analysis Reports and Safety Cases to CENELEC 50129 standards.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in safety planning, hazard analysis, and safety deliverables.
  • Strong knowledge of CENELEC 50126/50128/50129 and CSM-RA.
  • Hands‑on experience with safety‑critical ETCS applications.
  • Familiarity with CCS NTSN and Assurance NTSN.
  • Background in UK rail engineering safety management, ideally with rolling stock experience.
  • Understanding of configuration management and V&V processes.
