A leading energy company based in Scotland is seeking a System Planning and Investment Engineer. This role involves analyzing power systems, preparing reports, and supporting the integration of low-carbon technologies. Ideal candidates should have experience in electricity transmission and a qualification in Engineering or a STEM field. The position offers a competitive salary and hybrid working options.
Base Location: For this role, successful applicants must be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth or Glasgow.
Hybrid working: 50% home and office split is available to support your work/life balance.
Salary: £50,100 – £68,000 + performance bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role
SSEN Transmission is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for a System Planning and Investment Engineer to help shape the future of the electricity transmission system in the North of Scotland.
In this role, you’ll work on integrating low-carbon generation, flexible demand, and emerging technologies into the transmission system — an exciting opportunity to advance your career in power system analysis and strategic energy planning.
Lack experience but are still interested?
If you have an academic background in power systems or are at an earlier stage in your career in electrical power systems and looking to move into a system planning and investment role, please do apply. We may be able to offer a role at a Trainee level with the opportunity to transition to an Engineer once the necessary experience has been gained. We would welcome applications from postgraduate and PhD students who have completed or are about to complete their studies.
