A Systems Engineer is sought to support the development and delivery of specialist subsea technology for demanding marine and offshore environments. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to bespoke engineering projects, working from early technical definition through integration, verification and final delivery.
You will work closely with project teams, customers and engineers across several disciplines to turn operational needs into practical, reliable technical solutions. This position would suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, coordinating technical activity and seeing projects progress from concept into use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical activities for tailored subsea systems and instrumentation, helping ensure solutions meet project requirements.
- Contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and requirements capture to integration, testing and handover.
- Work with customers, project colleagues and engineering specialists to clarify needs and develop appropriate technical approaches.
- Assist with technical proposals, engineering estimates, project planning and the coordination of resources.
- Plan and oversee system-level verification, validation and testing across software, firmware and hardware components.
Key Skills and Experience
- Background in systems engineering, engineering design, or the implementation of complex technical products or projects.
- Confident working with customers and stakeholders, explaining technical matters clearly and constructively.
- Strong fault-finding and analytical skills, including investigating issues that cross subsystem boundaries.
- Understanding of software principles and system integration, alongside exposure to mechanical and/or analogue and digital electronics.
- Able to produce clear technical specifications, reports, procedures and test documentation, while managing priorities across several projects.
- Familiarity with CAD packages and task or project management tools such as Jira.
- Experience coordinating work across software, electronics, mechanical and systems engineering teams.
- Exposure to customer trials, demonstrations, product testing or operational support.
- Comfortable reviewing technical standards and compliance needs, identifying risks and reporting progress to stakeholders.
What’s on offer:
- A permanent opportunity to work on technically challenging subsea engineering projects.
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with involvement across the full project lifecycle.
- Occasional travel to customer locations and test facilities in the UK and overseas.
