Job summary

Serco Leisure is recruiting Swimming Teachers at Erdington Leisure Centre to deliver engaging, safe swimming lessons for all abilities. You’ll plan sessions, use equipment correctly, and ensure high safety standards in every lesson.

The role requires a STA Award/Cert in Teaching Swimming or Swim England Level 2, strong swimming ability, and a customer‑focused, team player attitude. DBS checks may be required; flexible hours, casual shifts, with training provided.

Qualifications

• You must hold STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming or Swim England Level 2.
• Strong swimming ability essential.
• Customer-focused with ability to work with people of all ages.
• Willing to complete safety courses if needed.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering lessons to suit each swimmer in the class
• Ensuring safe provision and correct use of all equipment
• Establishing and making sure that safety standards are followed in every lesson
• Identifying participants abilities and encouraging them to reach their full potential
• Providing explanations and demonstrating swimming techniques
• Correcting faults in Swimming techniques and identifying ways to improve performance

Location: Erdington Leisure Centre, B27 7NS

Salary: £12.75 to £14.25 per hour + excellent benefits

Working hours: Casual, as and when required between Monday to Sunday

You’ll Be Entrusted To

• Planning and delivering lessons to suit each swimmer in the class
• Ensuring safe provision and correct use of all equipment

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you...

• You will need to hold either a STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming or Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2
• Strong swimmer
• Holding either a valid RLSS UK NPLQ or RLSS UK NRASTC or STA Safety would be advantageous but not essential as we can provide the training to complete these courses free of charge.
• Hold plenty of enthusiasm and a big smile
• You’ll have excellent customer service skills and be someone who is happy to deal with people of all ages and back grounds.
• Be willing to go the extra mile whilst on your rounds to enable your team to hit their targets.
