Job summary

Virgin Active is evolving its social wellness-focused spaces and seeks a Swim Manager to lead the team, delivering safe, engaging teaching and a commercially strong swim programme. You will inspire a high-performing team, maintain standards and ensure members receive outstanding teaching, service and care.

This full-time role (40 hours) requires leadership, ASA/STA certifications, and a passion for delivering exceptional member experiences within a vibrant club environment.

Qualifications

• ASA/STA teaching certifications required.
• Experience leading and developing a swim team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Swim Team to deliver high-quality teaching and engaging activities.
• Develop creative classes following the ASA National Swim Plan for Teaching Swimming.
• Ensure a safe environment for all members within the pool and surrounding areas.
• Manage recruitment, training, rotas and payroll; drive department targets and KPIs.

In this role, you will play a part in leading the delivery of a safe, engaging and commercially successful swim programme, creating exceptional learning experiences for swimmers of all ages and abilities. You will inspire and develop a high-performing swim team, drive departmental performance and standards, and ensure every member benefits from outstanding teaching, service and care.

The Role

• Responsible for ensuring an excellent level of teaching is delivered to our members, that exciting and engaging activities & lessons are being delivered at all times by leading the Swim Team to achieve a high standard,creating an exceptional experience for our members.
• Responsible for developing creative and innovative classes following the ASA National Swim Plan for Teaching Swimming.
• Providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all of our members within the pool & surrounding areas.
• Able to develop and implement successful methods of communication across the wider Club team and between your team members and parents.
• Line management of the team including recruitment, training and development, as well as rotas and payroll.
• Drive the department to meet all set targets and budgets, exceed commercial success by developing and training existing staff to Brand Standards.
• Accountable for successfully delivering financial & departmental KPIs, department Health Checks and audits.

Who We’re Looking For

• Swim England/ASA Level 2 in Teaching Swimming
• STA Level 2 Certificate in Swimming Teaching
• Experience in supervising and leading a team, with the passion to inspire and drive others to achieve and exceed targets.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond appropriately & professionally to everyone you interact with.
