Job summary

Bury Council Leisure is recruiting Swimming Teachers to deliver safe, high-quality lessons at the Radcliffe Hub and other Bury Leisure sites. You’ll teach swimmers of all ages, maintain safety, and support learners to progress with confidence.

You'll hold a current qualification (ASA Level 1/2, STA Award, or equivalent) and keep CPD up to date, with a commitment to safeguarding and excellent customer care as you help people acquire lifelong swimming skills.

Qualifications

• A relevant and current Swimming Teachers' Certificate, ASA Level 1 or Level 2, STA Award or Certificate
• A valid RLSS or STA Lifeguard qualification, Rescue Test for Teachers or equivalent or commitment to gain prior to commencement in post.
• Evidence of continued CPD demonstrating a commitment to staying current and developing your practice.
• Demonstrable knowledge of a National Teaching Framework.
• Demonstrable knowledge of lesson planning and pupils' development.
• Strong knowledge of pool safety procedures and their practical application.
• Excellent customer care skills and a natural ability to connect with and inspire swimmers and their families.
• Knowledge of stroke techniques and the advanced principles of teaching.
• Safeguarding: This post involves working with children, young people and vulnerable adults. All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and must be fully committed to safeguarding and always promoting welfare

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality, safe and inspiring swimming lessons within a National framework helping swimmers of all ages and abilities to progress, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of the water.
• Connect with, encourage and inspire learners of all levels to achieve progression and safety in the water.
• Take responsibility for safety, lesson planning and pupil development across sessions.
