Job summary

Purosearch is seeking a Sustainability Consultant to join our Nottingham team, focusing on carbon, whole-life carbon and sustainable building design. You’ll work with clients and design teams to provide practical sustainability advice throughout the design and development process.

Ideal candidates will have experience in sustainability consultancy, strong carbon assessment skills, and familiarity with One Click LCA, BREEAM and WELL.

Qualifications

• Experience in sustainability consultancy or building performance.
• Experience with carbon accounting and whole-life carbon assessments.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking whole-life carbon assessments and reduction studies.
• Developing building carbon assessments for design teams.
• Using carbon tools to support embodied and operational carbon reductions.
• Supporting clients with BREEAM assessments and sustainability strategies.
• Working with design teams to integrate health and wellbeing considerations.
• Producing high-quality technical reports and calculations.
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and other consultants.
• Identifying commercially viable sustainability improvements for projects.

Sustainability Consultant - Carbon

Location: Nottingham

Level: Consultant

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We're looking for aSustainability Consultantto join our growing team in Nottingham, with a particular focus oncarbon, whole-life carbon and sustainable building design.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a few years' experience in the built environment who wants to develop their technical expertise, work across a variety of interesting projects and play an active role in helping clients deliver lower-carbon buildings.

The Role

As a Sustainability Consultant, you'll work with clients, design teams and colleagues to provide practical sustainability advice throughout the design and development process.

Your role will have a strong emphasis oncarbon assessment and reduction, alongside broader building sustainability and environmental performance.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on projects across different sectors and stages of development, contributing to assessments, reports and design recommendations that have a genuine impact on project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertakingwhole-life carbon (WLC)assessments and carbon reduction studies.
• Developing and reviewing building carbon assessments and advising design teams on opportunities to reduce embodied and operational carbon.
• UsingOne Click LCAto undertake whole-life carbon assessments.
• Supporting clients and project teams withBREEAMassessments and sustainability strategies.
• Working withWELLand wider health and wellbeing considerations within building design.
• Producing high-quality technical reports, calculations and sustainability documentation.
• Working collaboratively with architects, engineers, contractors and other consultants.
• Supporting project teams in identifying practical and commercially viable sustainability improvements.
• Keeping up to date with developments in carbon accounting, sustainability standards and building regulations.
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of our sustainability offering.

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically capable, commercially aware and genuinely interested in improving the sustainability of the built environment.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience working in asustainability, environmental or building performance consultancy.
• A strong understanding ofcarbon assessment, particularly embodied and/or whole-life carbon.
• Practical experience usingOne Click LCA.
• Experience withWLC, BREEAM and WELL.
• An understanding of sustainable building design and the wider built environment.
• Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
• The ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and project teams.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, architecture or a related discipline.
• A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload while working effectively as part of a team.
