A prominent NHS Trust in Manchester is looking for experienced Surgical First Assistants to join their Gynaecology Robotic Programme. Successful candidates will assist Consultant Gynaecologists during clinical procedures and will be enrolled in a fully funded training course if necessary. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Scrub Practitioners to join the SMH Gynaecology Robotic Programme, planned to start in April 2025. We are looking to recruit 3x Surgical First Assistants who will work alongside Consultant Gynaecologists across the Gynae sub‑specialties to provide assistance during clinical procedures. Successful applicants who do not hold the Surgical First Assistant in operative procedures HEA 3055 certificate will be enrolled on the next available course through Edge Hill University. This is a 6‑month course, fully funded and with the relevant clinical support provided.
The post holder will participate and assist primarily in robotic surgical procedures. Some flexibility will be required depending on workload across gynaecology, providing skilled assistance under the direct supervision of the surgeon. The post holder will work as part of the surgical speciality theatre team, collaborating with the speciality surgeon and team leaders. S/he will assist and collaborate with the theatre team when not in the role of the surgical first assistant and will provide direct patient care with detailed clinical knowledge of the specialty.
