Job summary

IOTA Group in London is seeking a Senior SURF Subsea Structures Engineer to support a major ultra-deepwater offshore development. The role oversees engineering activities across EPSCC for a large Namibian project, including FLETs, ILTs, foundations and pipe supports, with extensive interface coordination and strict HSE adherence.

The position requires a Master’s in Engineering and 15+ years of subsea experience, with leadership of contractors and fabrication yards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate subsea structures engineering activities across the EPSCC phases.
• Oversee the detailed design and timely delivery of FLETs, ILTs, foundations, pipe supports/sleepers, anchoring piles, lateral buckling and pipe-walking mitigation structures.
• Review and validate engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and procedures.
• Review in-place and installation analyses, ensuring compliance with international standards and project specs.
• Monitor procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning activities.
• Supervise contractor and fabrication yard performance, identifying deviations and schedule impacts.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, QA/QC, technical and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with SURF Installation, SPS, FPSO, Fabrication and Field Operations teams.
• Support project reviews, risk assessments, technical reporting and optimization.
• Provide technical expertise to the SURF Technical Manager and contribute to project execution, cost optimisation and schedule performance.

IOTA Group is recruiting a Senior SURF Subsea Structures Engineer for one of its international partners in the Oil & Gas industry.

The position supports a major ultra-deepwater offshore development project in Namibia, involving an FPSO designed to process approximately 160,000 barrels of oil per day, operating in water depths of approximately 3,000 metres, with up to 40 subsea wells.

Based in London, United Kingdom, you will oversee subsea structures engineering activities throughout the Engineering, Procurement, Supply, Construction and Commissioning (EPSCC) phases.

Job Description

Reporting to the SURF Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the technical supervision, design review, procurement and fabrication follow-up of subsea structures throughout the project execution phase.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate subsea structures engineering activities across the EPSCC phases.
• Oversee the detailed design and timely delivery of FLETs, ILTs, foundations, pipe supports/sleepers, anchoring piles, lateral buckling and pipe-walking mitigation structures.
• Review and validate engineering studies, technical drawings, specifications, calculations and procedures submitted by SURF contractors and suppliers.
• Review in-place and installation analyses, ensuring compliance with applicable international standards and project specifications.
• Monitor procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning activities.
• Supervise contractor and fabrication yard performance, identifying technical deviations, constructability issues and potential schedule impacts.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, QA/QC, technical and contractual requirements throughout project execution.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with SURF Installation, SPS, FPSO, Fabrication and Field Operations teams, as well as external contractors and third parties.
• Support project reviews, risk assessments, technical reporting and engineering optimisation.
• Provide technical expertise to the SURF Technical Manager and contribute to effective project execution, cost optimisation and schedule performance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in subsea structures engineering, including detailed design and fabrication.
• Proven experience on large offshore Oil & Gas SURF deepwater EPCI projects.
• Strong technical expertise in FLETs, ILTs, subsea foundations, pipe supports, sleepers and anchoring systems.
• Experience supervising engineering contractors, suppliers and fabrication yards.
• Solid understanding of subsea structures installation, transportation and constructability challenges.

Technical Skills

• Good knowledge of international engineering standards, including DNV, ASME, API and ISO.
• Practical experience with engineering software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, SACS, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and OrcaFlex.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering applied to subsea structures.
• Experience with subsea equipment integration, including subsea connectors, MQC plates, electrical harnesses, e-SCM, electrical actuators and dosing valves.
• Ability to review detailed engineering documentation and identify technical risks and non-conformities.
