Job summary

Howden is seeking a Surety Graduate in London, starting September 2027, with hybrid work (3-4 days in office) and a £40,000 salary. The 18‑month development programme builds technical and commercial skills, risk assessment and relationship management across the deals lifecycle.

Youll join a permanent role, training you from day one while you handle real client projects and learn to negotiate and influence with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• No insurance experience required; we’ll teach you what you need to know.
• Recent Law or Finance graduate or final year student with commercial/financial interest.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn about surety products and end-to-end process for placing bonds.
• Work with clients and underwriters to structure and place bonds.
• Review contracts and financial records to identify risks.
• Prepare materials for upcoming meetings and take notes during sessions.
• Gain exposure to client and insurer meetings and cultivate relationships.
