£12.50ph to £13.50ph

Office Angels are proud to be working with this homelessness service provider in recruiting a Homeless Support Officer. You will be based within one of their Supported Housing units based in Dover, supporting vulnerable clients, providing an invaluable service.

This is a temporary role starting immediately for a minimum of 1 month so the perfect role to earn some money before Christmas as you would be paid weekly. There is also the possibility of further opportunities as this is a large employer across the South East.

The day to day duties in your new job could be:
  • To provide strength-based support to single people that are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • Carrying a mixed caseload of clients and supporting them within supported accommodation.
  • Working with individuals to address multiple complex needs, supporting them to become more resilient and live independent lives.
  • Providing a strength-based, psychologically informed approach to support
  • Establishing positive working relationships with clients, ensuring that active, meaningful engagement is established.
  • Coaching and supporting clients with housing related support which may include budgeting, debt management, education, employment, independent living skills, setting up home, neighbour complaints, health and safety, accessing welfare and housing benefits, mental health and substance misuse and referring to more specialised agencies where appropriate.
  • Supporting clients to become integrated within their local community, accessing appropriate services and local amenities.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date administrative records and systems, assisting in the compilation of monthly performance reports and other reports as required.
  • Liaising with housing agencies to ensure that appropriate referrals are made, including the Local Authority Housing Register and to support clients through homelessness applications with the local authority.
  • Inspecting prospective move‑on options with clients and landlords, ensuring that properties meet the Decent Homes standard.
  • Ensuring when appropriate, a smooth transition into appropriate accommodation, including setting up utilities, accessing welfare benefits and appropriate grants.
We'd love to speak to candidates who have:
  • Experience in a similar role, supporting vulnerable clients.
  • A sound understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services that are responsive to their needs.
  • Strong communication skills, alongside a psychology background would be preferred.
