Job summary

Apex Housing Association in Derry–Londonderry is seeking Support Workers for Ballyoan House to provide care and support to adults with mental health issues. Ballyoan House offers 24-hour staff support and active involvement in daily decisions to residents.

Candidates should have QCF/NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent and be registered with NISCC or commit to registration within 6 months; 2 years’ care experience is advantageous. A willing attitude toward qualifications is required.

Qualifications

• QCF/NVQ 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• 6 months experience in a formal care/support role.
• Must be registered with NISCC or achieve registration within 6 months.
• 2 years' experience in a formal care /support role and experience with learning disabilities/mental health issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and support to adults with mental health issues at Ballyoan House.
• Assist residents with day-to-day activities and promote independence.

Ballyoan House is a supported living accommodation giving care and support for 16 adults with mental health issues. Ballyoan Houses provides 24-hour staff support services, 365 days a year, supporting tenants to develop skills and get involved in day-to-day decision making.

QCF/NVQ 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent
And
6 months experience in a formal care/support role* and previous experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities/ mental healthissues.

Must be currently registered with NISCC or if new to the sector must achieve registration within 6 months.

Or
2 years' experience in a formal care /support role* and previous experience of working with individuals with Learning Disabilities/ Mental Health issues.

Must be currently registered with NISCC or if new to the sector must achieve registration within 6 months.

Must be willing to work towards the completion of relevant qualification.

*Formal Care / Support may include caring at home, where the carer is in receipt of Carers’ Allowance. Formal Care / Support may also include voluntary work in a formal setting.
