Overview

Support Worker - Supporting Young People with Special Educational Needs (SEN) - Secondary Schools in the area of Berkley, Gloucestershire.

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for Support Workers to work with young people aged 11-16 in mainstream secondary schools across the Berkley area. This rewarding role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) such as ADHD and Autism, helping them with their day-to-day learning and wellbeing in school.

As a Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure each young person feels understood, valued, and able to succeed. You'll also provide supervision and guidance during break times and social activities, helping to create a positive and inclusive school experience.

Key Information
  • Roles available immediately and ongoing throughout the academic year
  • Working hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (approx. 37 hours per week)
  • Pay rate: £14.00 - £15.50 per hour, depending on experience
  • Opportunities for long-term roles and permanent school contracts
  • Drivers with access to a car are highly beneficial due to the rural location of some schools
We are looking for people who
  • Have experience supporting young people aged 11-16, particularly those with SEN such as ADHD or Autism
  • Have a caring, positive, and patient approach with a genuine passion for helping young people thrive
  • Are friendly, professional, and reliable, providing the consistency that students need
  • Have strong communication skills and can build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Are flexible and proactive, able to support learning in and out of the classroom
  • Hold a UK driving licence and have access to a car (preferred but not essential)
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working with young people or within a school, care, or youth setting
  • Hold an enhanced DBS Disclosure (or be willing to apply for one with our support)
  • Able to provide professional references covering recent employment
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
